The Chemistry product line accounted for 42% of the electronics division revenue from continuing operations in 2009.

The Chemistry product line manufactures specialty chemicals for the electronics, automotive and surface metal finishing industries under the name Enthone.

The product line's extensive product range includes printed wiring board metallization processes and lead-free final finishes as well as advanced plating technologies for electronic packaging, microelectronic components and semiconductor wafer manufacturing. Enthone also supplies products for other applications such as performance coatings to shield plastic housings of electronic devices against electromagnetic damage and high performance coatings for electronic connectors. Enthone is a leader in the development of semiconductor copper which is replacing aluminium as the preferred material for wiring on chips due to its superior electrical transmission properties.

Enthone is also a leading provider of corrosion, wear-resistant and decorative coatings for numerous non-electronic applications. Examples include electroless nickel for corrosion protection and wear-resistance of automobile parts, oil and gas industry equipment, medical instruments and aerospace components; coatings and topcoats to protect ferrous metals; and decorative finishes for automobiles, furniture, householder appliances, jewellery and other precious metals products.
