COOKSON GROUP PLC HAS BEEN DEMERGED TO FORM VESUVIUS PLC AND ALENT PLC

On 1 November 2012, Cookson announced the proposed demerger of its Performance Materials division to form a new London listed Speciality Chemicals company called Alent plc. Cookson, consisting principally of the Engineered Ceramics division, would be renamed Vesuvius plc.

Having gained Court and Shareholder approval for the transaction on 26 November, the demerger of the Performance Materials division was effected on 19 December.

Shareholders on the Cookson Group plc register at 18:00 GMT on 18 December now hold one share in Vesuvius plc and one share in Alent plc for every Cookson share previously held.
